I tried to resist the urge to buy a Palm Pre. Really I did. I had decided to at least wait until there was an unlocked GSM model. But the little beauty seduced me with its smooth curves, speedy processor, and beautiful operating system. It's not entirely my fault; my steady, the T-Mobile G1 and I have always had a complicated relationship. One minute she was quirky and fun, the next minute she was slow and weird. And there was the Palm Pre, beautiful and fast. I never had a chance....
I would say at "hello" but certainly very soon afterwards. I visited a Sprint store on Saturday and could have bought the Pre on the day it launched. I didn't because the demo model was acting flaky and slow. I came back a couple of days later and checked out a another model and it worked just fine. The difference was that the demo model on launch day was running a demo app that was apparently eating up a lot of memory. (You've got to love Sprint and Palm's marketing savvy.) They were out of stock on that day so I can back the next day. So five visits to two different stores over the course of five days. That's not too obsessive? Don't answer that.
